GET healthy-sandwich CREATIVE
When it comes to making a healthy sandwich, the possibilities are truly endless. From a classic BLT to a vegetarian wrap, the key to a nutritious sandwich is simple: combine fresh, quality ingredients with moderation. Do you love lists? Here it goes:
- Start with a nutrient-dense base such as whole-grain bread, pita pockets, wraps, or tortillas.
- Then, add a lean source of protein, such as grilled chicken, tuna, hard-boiled eggs, or beans.
- Top with crunchy vegetables like lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, or sprouts for added fiber and nutrition.
- For added flavor and texture, try adding a small amount of cheese, avocados, hummus, or nut butter.
- Finally, finish with a drizzle of olive oil and vinegar or a light spread of mustard, mayo, or pesto. Voila!
